Children's robotics is no longer a big-city luxury. Tecate already has schools and clubs that offer it, but not all in the same way. This guide explains what's learned at each age and how to spot a good program.

Signs of a good program

The competitions: FIRST LEGO League
The FIRST LEGO League Challenge is an international competition for school teams, with a different theme each season. Teams build and program a robot to complete missions on a table, and also present a research project. The robot, the project and the team's values are all judged.
Sixth-grade students at Colegio Encinos took part in the «Submerged» season, about the underwater world, with a project on marine recycling. They were the only school in Tecate to compete.
What if my child isn't into technology?
School robotics is more building and play than computers. Plenty of children who aren't drawn to screens love assembling, testing and seeing something move because of a decision they made.
