Robotics and coding
From 1st grade of preschool to the FIRST LEGO League competition
At Colegio Encinos robotics starts in the first grade of preschool and runs through sixth grade, where our students design, build and program competition robots. Along the way they learn science, technology, engineering and math — but above all, how to work as a team.
In preschool: blocks, sequences and challenges
The youngest children build with blocks, follow and create sequences, and solve simple challenges: get the train to the station, keep the tower from falling. From third grade of preschool, coding joins in: putting instructions in order so that something happens. It's logical thinking before screens.
In elementary school: design, build and program
In elementary school robotics becomes a project. Students work in teams to build a robot, program it, test it, fail and fix it. Computing and digital tools are added for research and presentation.

FIRST LEGO League Challenge
Our sixth-grade students took part in the FIRST LEGO League Challenge, «Submerged» season: they solved underwater-world challenges with LEGO robots and presented a marine recycling project. We were the only school in Tecate to compete. They spent weeks building and programming their robot.
Robotics club
For those who want more, the afternoon robotics club goes deeper into building and programming, and prepares the teams that take part in competitions.
